School Day

Our timings ensure that the Department for Education's guidance that schools should be open for a minimum of 32.5 hours per week are adhered to.

SESSION TIMES

a.m session p.m session
8.50am - 12.00pm 1.00pm-3.20pm
(This is calculated from 8:55am each day, because this is the compulsory start of the day and end of registration).

- The school day begins at 8.55am. Staff members are on the playground from 8.45am. Children should not be on the site before 8.45am unless they are supervised by an adult.

- Registration takes place twice a day, at 8.55am and 1.00pm.

- There is a fifteen minute break during the morning session from 10.40am to 10.55am

- Our lunchtime is from midday to 1.00pm.

- The school day ends at 3.20pm.

THE START OF THE SCHOOL DAY

Pupils should go immediately to their class, after arriving at school, so they are ready for the register to be takenPupils arriving after registration are recorded as being late and all lateness is recorded. Please see the school's Pupil Attendance Policy for further details by clicking HERE. Therefore, the compulsory start of the day is 8:55am each day (when the register closes).

We continually monitor attendance at school and strive for consistently 'good' or excellent attendance at 97% or above.

COLLECTIVE WORSHIP

Collective Worship takes place each day, usually at 9am or 3pm. Monday, Thursday and Friday are whole school assemblies with Tuesday and Wednesday reserved for class assemblies. Collective worship is of a Christian nature as we are a ‘Church of England School’, but other religions are acknowledged.

Parents may request that their child or children be withdrawn from collective worship. Any such requests must be made in writing to the Head teacher.

At the beginning and end of the school day, parents and carers are encouraged to come into the playground to drop off / collect their children. We firmly believe that this helps to build a close relationship between home and school – good links with parents and carers are extremely important to us.
